About Paul

Paul Clarke is a brand, marketing, and communications leader whose career has taken him through some of the world's most influential professional and financial services organisations. Across roles at Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, Prudential UK, EY, McKinsey, and Paul Hastings, he has helped leaders navigate major transformations, reputational crises, and periods of significant organisational change.

Born in London, Paul spent part of his childhood in Barbados before returning to the UK for university. He studied aeronautical engineering and also spent time studying in France, experiences that helped shape the international perspective he later brought to global communications and leadership roles. Although he chose not to pursue engineering professionally, he continues to apply its structured way of thinking to language, brand, and communication.

Paul began his communications career representing UK universities during the politically challenging introduction of tuition fees. The role taught him how to understand and defend complex positions under pressure, work with senior institutional leaders, and communicate with major national and international media.

He later joined Arthur Andersen, where he became UK Head of Public Relations shortly before the Enron crisis led to the firm's collapse. The experience gave him a direct understanding of how quickly even a powerful global brand can lose trust, while also showing him that the strongest relationships often survive the institution itself.

Paul went on to hold senior communications and marketing roles at Deloitte, Prudential UK, EY, McKinsey, and Paul Hastings. At Prudential, he deliberately accepted a role that appeared to be a step down because it offered exposure to one of the largest financial-services transformations of its time. At EY, his responsibilities extended beyond communications into chief-of-staff work, business planning, board processes, and organisational strategy. At McKinsey, he worked on significant global reputational challenges while developing a more deeply transatlantic career.

A consistent strength throughout his career has been his ability to listen, observe, and understand how people respond inside complex organisations. Although he was once told that he might be "too nice" for a senior role, he came to recognise that being calm, attentive, and relationship-oriented was not a weakness. It allowed him to see things that more forceful leaders could miss and to earn trust during high-pressure moments.

After decades inside major global organisations, Paul chose to test himself in a different environment. He stepped away from the security and status of corporate leadership to work independently, build strategic partnerships, and develop his own brand. Today, his career continues to be shaped by curiosity, cultural openness, and relationships rather than by a rigid plan.
